Job Description
Medical Office Assistant (Part-Time)
Rubicon Healthcare is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Medical Office Assistant to join our growing primary care team.
No certification is required. We are willing to train the right candidate who is eager to learn and provide excellent patient care.
Schedule
- Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Saturday: PRN

Position Summary
The Medical Office Assistant supports providers by preparing patients for their visits, assisting with clinical workflows, and helping ensure efficient daily operations. This position works closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other clinical staff to provide exceptional patient care.
Essential Duties
- Room patients and prepare them for their appointments
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints
- Accurately document information in the Athenahealth electronic medical record
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain clinical supplies
- Assist providers with examinations and minor in-office procedures
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection as directed
- Administer injections and immunizations if qualified and permitted by training and company policy
- Clean and sterilize equipment following infection control guidelines
- Process prescription refill requests and provider messages as assigned
- Coordinate with pharmacies, laboratories, imaging centers, and specialists
- Educate patients regarding provider instructions
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Perform other clinical support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous healthcare or direct patient care experience preferred
- Certification is not required
- Experience with Athenahealth EMR is preferred but not required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
