Job Description

Join a growing team helping build better homes.

Tacoma Energy is seeking a Residential Energy Field Inspector to support one of the nation's largest home builders, DR Horton, throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.

If you enjoy working independently, being out in the field instead of behind a desk, and using specialized testing equipment to solve real-world problems, this could be a great fit.

No two days are exactly the same. You'll visit newly constructed homes, perform energy performance testing, document your findings, and work directly with builders to help ensure homes meet energy code requirements before homeowners move in.

What You'll Do

  • Perform blower door testing
  • Perform duct leakage testing
  • Conduct pre-drywall and final energy inspections
  • Verify insulation and air sealing installation
  • Photograph construction progress and testing results
  • Complete reports using company software on a tablet
  • Communicate professionally with builders and site supervisors when needed
  • Travel to job sites throughout Eastern Pennsylvania using a company vehicle
  • Maintain testing equipment and company vehicle

What We're Looking For

We value experience in any of the following:

  • Residential construction
  • HVAC installation or service
  • Home inspection
  • Building inspection
  • Energy auditing
  • Weatherization
  • Carpentry or framing
  • Insulation installation
  • Quality control

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Comfortable driving throughout Eastern Pennsylvania
  • Able to climb ladders and work on active construction sites
  • Able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
  • Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and mobile apps
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • HERS Rater certification
  • RESNET experience
  • BPI certification
  • Blower door testing experience
  • Duct leakage testing experience
  • Building science or HVAC experience

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Company truck
  • Fuel card
  • Company-provided testing equipment
  • Paid training
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Health benefits
  • Stable, year-round work with a growing company
