Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) and current DOT Medical Card required.
• At least 2 years of commercial driving experience within the past 5 years.
• Waste industry experience is a plus, but not required.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Steel-toed boots are required and must be worn at all times.
• Ability to understand and follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures.
• Must consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy or bulky items throughout the workday.

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Sanitation Driver to join our team in The Villages, FL. In this role, you'll work as part of a two-person crew responsible for collecting residential waste while safely operating commercial sanitation vehicles. Team members rotate between driving the truck and working as the "pitcher," riding on the rear of the truck to collect and load waste along the assigned route.

This is a physically active position that offers the opportunity to serve the community while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial sanitation trucks on assigned residential routes.
• Collect and load residential waste into the truck while following all safety procedures.
• Rotate between driving duties and riding on the rear of the truck during collection routes.
• Tag oversized or bulk items for scheduled special pickup.
• Follow established routes and schedules using assigned route maps.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report mechanical issues and perform basic preventive vehicle maintenance.
• Fuel, clean, and maintain assigned vehicles.
• Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with residents.
• Work effectively with your route partner to complete daily assignments safely and efficiently.
