We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Cumberland, Rhode Island and build a strong foundation in both engineering and plant operations. This onsite role is designed for someone who wants to deepen technical expertise, improve production performance, and grow into a leadership position within a high-volume wire manufacturing environment. The position offers early exposure to process engineering, quality standards, and continuous improvement efforts before expanding into broader operational responsibility.
Responsibilities:
• Build a working knowledge of wire manufacturing methods, product specifications, and quality expectations through hands-on involvement with engineering and production teams.
• Support process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen overall manufacturing performance across the operation.
• Contribute to new product introduction activities, including tooling support, validation efforts, and updates to production documentation.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and technical records to improve consistency on the manufacturing floor.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and help implement corrective actions that improve reliability and output.
• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to coordinate preventive maintenance activities and reduce unexpected equipment interruptions.
• Analyze production, scrap, and downtime data to uncover trends and recommend practical improvements.
• Provide day-to-day leadership support within the wire division while helping drive safety, quality, throughput, and cross-training efforts across multiple shifts.
• Lead or participate in Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement events focused on cost reduction and process optimization.• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with 3–5 years of engineering or production-related experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to improve manufacturing processes, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support operational performance.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma principles.
• Proficiency with engineering design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with PLCs, machine controls, and industrial production equipment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build credibility across engineering and operations teams.
• Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus, along with interest in developing into a future people leadership role.
