Job Description

This role supports warehouse operations by handling materials, shipping and receiving products, and ensuring accurate storage and order fulfillment in a temperature-controlled distribution environment. You will work primarily on 2nd shift and receive training to operate powered industrial trucks, including a cherry picker forklift at various heights. The position offers the potential to transition from a temporary to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and process items for storage and shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and quality to ensure customers receive the correct products within the requested timeframes.
  • Receive materials and finished goods daily, verifying that the quality, type, and quantity are correct and that all required documentation, such as packing lists, is present and accurate.
  • Support shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment activities for finished goods inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment at the assigned facility.
  • Operate distribution equipment, including powered industrial trucks and cherry picker forklifts, at various heights after completing required training.
  • Work safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment that includes room temperature, cold-room, and freezer-room areas.
  • Follow all documented procedures and standards related to distribution operations, including document control and quality policies.
  • Use basic computer systems, including ERP systems, email, and shipping software, to perform daily operational tasks and record transactions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members and provide courteous, responsive customer service to support operational goals.
  • Recognize and report deviations from standard practices and procedures to help maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Understand and interpret team metrics to support continuous improvement and operational performance.
  • Arrive on time and maintain strong attendance to meet operational schedules and workload demands.
  • Follow general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new or unfamiliar tasks, applying training and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and other required training programs to maintain proficiency with equipment, processes, and safety requirements.
  • Handle packaged hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines and company procedures.
  • Perform highly repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–2 years of related experience in warehousing, logistics, shipping, or receiving.
  • Some experience in logistics within a life science or similar environment preferred.
  • Ability to consistently and independently follow policies, procedures, and instructions while meeting schedules.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, including reach trucks and cherry picker forklifts, and to work at various heights.
  • Comfort working at heights, with the ability to be trained on a cherry picker forklift.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate ERP systems, email applications such as Outlook, and shipping software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying materials and documentation.
  • Good communication and customer service skills for interacting with internal personnel.
  • Ability to recognize deviations from standard practices and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift, push, pull, and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Willingness and ability to work any shift with advance notice of shift changes and to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with material handling and warehouse operations.
  • Background as a material handler or forklift/powered industrial vehicle operator.
  • Experience operating reach trucks or similar distribution equipment.
  • Familiarity with shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures.
  • Ability to understand and interpret team metrics and operational performance indicators.
  • Comfort working in environments that may involve packaged hazardous materials.
  • Flexibility to support occasional local travel as required.
  • Willingness to complete structured training programs, including on-the-job training and standard training protocols.

Work Environment

The role is based in a warehouse environment that includes multiple temperature zones: room temperature areas (approximately 59–86°ree;F), cold-room areas (approximately 36–46°ree;F), and freezer-room areas (approximately -4 to 23°ree;F). You will perform highly repetitive tasks and spend most of the day walking, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a continuous basis, with routine pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds and regular climbing. You may occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. The noise level ranges from moderate to high, and some work may involve handling packaged hazardous materials in accordance with safety procedures. You must be available to work any shift with advance notice of shift changes and be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed. Occasional local travel may be required. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
