Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Description
This role involves operating forklifts and high-reach trucks to safely move, load, and unload materials within a manufacturing environment. You will support production and shipping activities by transporting materials to and from the production area, managing inventory locations, and preparing completed equipment, accessories, and service parts for shipment. You will use RF scanners and tracking systems to maintain accurate records while consistently meeting quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate standing and sitting forklifts to move materials for loading trailers and flatbeds, supplying the production area, and transferring items into and out of inventory.
- Utilize high-reach trucks to access and move materials stored on high shelving locations.
- Use RF scanners and tracking systems to accurately locate, track, and record materials and inventory movements.
- Work from manufacturing information, material lists, requisitions, and written or oral instructions to complete daily tasks.
- Prepare completed equipment, accessories, and service parts for shipment, ensuring all components are properly loaded and secured.
- Load, unload, and move materials as required to support production, shipping, and receiving operations.
- Check the quality of materials and workmanship and verify that products conform to established standards.
- Take responsibility for the quality of finished work and promptly report any defects or discrepancies.
- Maintain required records and documents related to material handling, inventory, and shipments.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and help maintain a clean and organized work area.
Essential Skills
- Experience operating forklifts or high-reach trucks, with the ability to handle both preferred.
- Proficiency in material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving materials safely and efficiently.
- Experience using RF scanners or similar equipment for inventory tracking and documentation.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Ability to work from manufacturing information, material lists, requisitions, and written or oral instructions.
- Attention to detail and ability to verify quality and conformance to standards.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper use of material handling equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with both sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
- Experience operating high-reach trucks to access materials stored at height.
- Experience using pallet jacks and other basic material handling equipment.
- Previous exposure to a clean manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn and participate in on-the-job training.

Work Environment
The role is based in a semi-climate-controlled manufacturing facility that maintains a fairly clean environment with moderate noise levels. Team members work on first shift, with openings on schedules such as 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The work involves operating forklifts, high-reach trucks, RF scanners, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Employees are expected to wear safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection, and to follow all safety and housekeeping guidelines while performing material handling, shipping, receiving, and inventory tasks.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
