Morning shift: 2am-10am
Day shift: 8am-5pm
Job Description
This highly physical role supports the safe and efficient handling of concrete raw materials in an industrial environment. You will unload and load rail cars and trucks, move materials to storage silos, perform basic equipment maintenance, and help keep the facility clean and safe. The position requires consistent attention to safety, accuracy in documentation, and the ability to work outdoors in hot, dusty, and noisy conditions as part of a small, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Safely unload inbound concrete raw materials from rail cars and trucks.
- Connect conveyor systems to containers and rail cars to ensure efficient unloading operations.
- Transport raw materials to designated silos for storage and future production use.
- Verify product labels and receipts to ensure materials are unloaded, documented, and stored correctly.
- Properly load trucks and rail cars while maintaining product accuracy and quality standards.
- Enter and track inbound and outbound loads using company computer systems and documentation procedures.
- Help maintain production equipment and perform minor repairs using hand tools.
- Clean tanks and equipment daily using a 20-pound jug pole and other cleaning tools as required.
- Assist with general housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safety training at all times.
- Communicate equipment issues, safety concerns, or product quality problems promptly to leadership.
- Work effectively in a small team of 4–5 people, giving and receiving feedback in a professional manner.
- Adhere to all site rules, including tobacco-free workplace policies.
Essential Skills
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, construction, concrete, rail, or outdoor labor environments (preferred but not strictly required).
- Ability to perform general labor tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, manual handling, and heavy lifting.
- Basic computer skills to accurately enter and track truck and material loads in company systems.
- Experience using hand tools for basic equipment maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and apply safety training consistently in a heavy industrial setting.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure correct labeling, documentation, and product handling.
- Ability to receive coaching, feedback, and constructive criticism professionally.
- Reliable transportation with the ability to drive your own vehicle to and from work; ride shares and drop-offs are not accepted due to shift schedules.
- Physical ability to repetitively lift 70–75 pounds throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and climb continuously during the workday.
- Comfort working around rail cars, conveyors, trucks, and industrial equipment in hot, dusty, dirty, and noisy environments.
- Willingness to perform physically demanding work that may cause soreness until accustomed to the job duties.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in concrete, concrete finishing, construction, landscaping, carpentry, general production, or similar manual labor roles.
- Experience working with rail cars and rail-related operations.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, safety training, and industrial safety practices.
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately and maintain organized records.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial and mechanical systems.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work well within a small crew.

Work Environment
This role is based in a cement supply facility that is described as very hot and dated, with significant exposure to summer heat, winter cold, dust, dirt, and industrial noise. Work takes place both outdoors and indoors around rail cars, conveyors, trucks, and other industrial equipment. The team typically consists of 4–5 people, and collaboration and clear communication are essential. The facility operates as a 100% tobacco-free workplace, and no tobacco products, nicotine products, vaping devices, or smoking are permitted anywhere on company property. Required personal protective equipment includes 6-inch lace-up steel toe boots, which you must provide. The company supplies a safety vest, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, and additional PPE as needed. The dress code requires blue jeans with no holes, a proper belt so pants do not sag, and a plain t-shirt; a long-sleeve button-up shirt is available on-site when required for specific tasks. The work is physically demanding and hands-on, involving heavy lifting, continuous movement, and daily use of a 20-pound jug pole for tank cleaning.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
