Job Description
This role supports form carpenters on a large industrial construction project by assisting with concrete formwork, general site preparation, and material handling. The Carpenter Helper works closely with experienced carpenters and site leadership to learn form carpentry, contribute to safe and efficient job site operations, and support the successful completion of foundations and related structural work.
Responsibilities
- Assist form carpenters with building, setting, and stripping concrete forms for walls, slabs, columns, and footings.
- Measure, cut, and assemble lumber, plywood, and form systems under supervision.
- Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and equipment to support daily operations.
- Clean and prepare job sites by removing debris and maintaining organized, safe work areas.
- Support layout activities using basic measuring tools such as tape measures, levels, and squares.
- Handle, operate, and maintain hand and power tools safely and properly.
- Assist with placing and securing formwork components, bracing, and shoring systems.
- Follow directions from foremen and lead carpenters to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Participate in daily stretch-and-flex routines and safety meetings.
- Perform general labor duties as needed, including physically demanding tasks and supporting multiple crews throughout the day.
- At least 6+ months of construction or general labor experience, with exposure to form carpentry preferred.
- Basic understanding of construction tools and standard job site practices.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret a tape measure.
- Ability to perform basic math to support measuring, cutting, and layout tasks.
- Familiarity with either commercial or residential construction environments.
- Ability to work hard on a job site and follow directions from leads and supervisors.
- Capability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to work overtime, including a schedule of 5 days per week at 10 hours per day, with the potential for additional hours.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.
- Experience working on concrete or form carpentry crews.
- Familiarity with commercial construction projects and heavy industrial job sites.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Experience with framing and drywall work.
- Ability to read or interpret basic blueprints or construction drawings.
- Spanish bilingual skills.

Work Environment
This position is based on a heavy industrial and commercial construction site. You will work outdoors and in active construction areas, often around heavy equipment, concrete work, and large-scale foundations. The schedule currently follows a 5-day workweek with 10-hour shifts and may increase based on project demands, so comfort with overtime is essential. The role is physically demanding and involves standing, lifting, bending, and working with hand and power tools throughout the day. You will work within a safety-focused culture that emphasizes adherence to OSHA standards, participation in daily safety and stretch-and-flex meetings, and proper use of tools and equipment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
