High School Psychologist for Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School (Grades 9–12)

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate psychoeducational reports to support eligibility determinations for special education services and accommodations.

  • Participate in IEP, 504, and student support meetings.

  • Supervise mental health team to provide short-term individual and group counseling for students experiencing academic, social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.

  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments, coordinating with administration and families.

  • Consult with teachers regarding classroom strategies, learning differences, and behavioral supports.

  • Communicate as appropriate with outside support professionals and families. 

  • Contribute to programs and school-wide initiatives that promote resilience, healthy relationships, and social-emotional learning.

  • Provide professional development for faculty on student mental health, trauma-informed practices, and effective classroom strategies.

  • Be attentive to the ways in which Jewish life and communal rhythms shape student experience and stress patterns throughout the year.

  • Support students navigating questions of identity, belonging, and community within a Jewish educational setting.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Ensure evaluation timelines and documentation requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in School Psychology or a closely related field.

  • State certification or licensure as a School Psychologist.

  • Knowledge of adolescent development, psychological assessment, and evidence-based interventions.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit school community.

  • Familiarity with Jewish communal life, culture, or education (professional or personal).

  • Experience working with diverse Jewish populations and backgrounds.
