Mainline Utility Operator – Lead High-Precision Infrastructure & Wet Utility Installations
Job Overview
- Company: BCAC Underground.
- Salary/Pay Rate: $25.00–$27.00+ per hour (Depending on Experience) plus Performance Bonus.
- Location: Abilene, TX 79606 (Per diem and living arrangements provided for out-of-state candidates).
- Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.
- Schedule: Monday – Saturday (Saturday is a half day; 60 hours total per week).
- Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License.
The Opportunity
You will serve as a foundational member of our mainline production crew, executing heavy trench excavations and wet utility installations. This position offers an experienced operator the chance to work with a modern fleet on high-impact municipal and commercial infrastructure projects. You will have the technical autonomy to manage your machine's performance while being backed by a company that sets the industry standard for underground utility services.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Operate heavy excavation machinery to dig precise mainlines and trenches for wet utility installations.
- Implement strict OSHA trench safety protocols, ensuring proper sloping, benching, or shoring systems are used.
- Perform daily equipment maintenance and comprehensive pre-operation inspections to maximize machine uptime.
- Coordinate seamlessly with pipe-layers, laborers, and grade-checkers to keep production moving safely.
- Assist in resolving real-time site constraints or soil challenges to maintain tight project timelines.
- Maintain accurate digital logs of machine hours, maintenance needs, and daily production reports.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of direct experience in underground utility installation.
- Mastered proficiency in trench excavation, grade management, and routine heavy equipment maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge of OSHA trench safety standards and soil classification.
- Physical capacity to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- CDL Class A or B license.
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- Competent Person certification for excavation and trenching.
- Prior experience with deep mainline sewer or water pipe installation.
