About the Role:
BLUFIN SUSHI BAR LLC is looking for a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team in Grosse Pointe, MI! This is your opportunity to showcase your craft in a dynamic sushi bar environment where creativity and precision are celebrated. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present high-quality sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty rolls with consistency and artistry
- Source, inspect, and handle fresh fish and seafood following strict food safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sushi station throughout service
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth, timely service during peak hours
- Develop and contribute to new menu items and seasonal specials
- Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and assist with ordering fresh ingredients as needed
- Uphold all health, sanitation, and food handling regulations at all times
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or Sushi Cook in a professional kitchen setting
- Proficiency in traditional Japanese knife skills and sushi rice preparation
- Strong knowledge of fish butchery, seafood selection, and freshness standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Food handler certification or ServSafe certification preferred
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to presentation and quality
- Reliable, team-oriented, and passionate about Japanese culinary arts
