Ophthalmic Technician

Cokingtin Eye Center is a busy, multi-specialty ophthalmology practice dedicated to providing exceptional eye care to our patients. We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with patients, and is committed to delivering outstanding clinical care.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of ophthalmology experience required.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, and common eye diseases.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a busy clinical setting.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient work-ups, including obtaining medical and ocular histories.
  • Measure and document visual acuity and other clinical findings accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Perform manifest refractions and other technician skills.
  • Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic testing as directed by the physician.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of ocular anatomy and ophthalmic terminology.
  • Assist physicians with in-office procedures while maintaining sterile technique and patient comfort.
  • Accurately document physician findings, treatment plans, and patient education during clinic visits.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow-up instructions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Work efficiently with physicians and fellow team members to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
