Machine Operator I – SMT
Location:San Diego, CA 92121
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM PST
Pay:$24- $26.16/hr DOE
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Machine Operator I (SMT) to support electronic manufacturing operations by setting up, operating, and maintaining Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment. This role is responsible for machine setup, component replenishment, parts verification, and ensuring production meets IPC quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience operating SMT equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is committed to producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and replenish SMT production equipment.
- Perform component verification and machine inspections following IPC standards and work instructions.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Monitor machine performance and identify production or quality issues.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and escalate issues when necessary.
- Communicate production status, concerns, and recommendations to team leads.
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Adapt to changing production priorities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of SMT machine operating experience.
- Experience reading and interpreting assembly instructions and production documentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- IPC Certification.
- Experience operating Siemens SMT placement equipment and/or AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems.
- Experience working in electronics or PCB manufacturing.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, move, and install materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
