THE POSITION
As a Facility Safety Manager with the Department of Human Services, you will lead safety efforts that support the well-being of everyone at Clarks Summit State Hospital. You will manage emergency planning, inspections, training, and security operations that keep the facility running safely. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads the planning, coordination, and oversight of safety, fire prevention, and security programs throughout the facility. The role focuses on creating a safe environment through inspections, emergency planning, investigations, and staff training. As a Facility Safety Manager, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Program Leadership: Develop and direct safety procedures, inspections, training, and compliance activities across the facility
  • Emergency Preparedness: Create and update plans for emergencies including fire, severe weather, security threats, and other critical events
  • Fire and Security Oversight: Manage fire prevention efforts, supervise fire safety staff, and guide security operations, patrols, and access control
  • Incident Investigation: Review accidents and safety concerns to identify causes and recommend corrective measures
  • Training and Guidance: Provide safety training, support managers, and ensure staff understand required safety policies and procedures
  • Data Review and Reporting: Analyze safety and security data, maintain records, and prepare reports that support regulatory compliance

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch, hours may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed.
  • Free parking!

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional experience in an organized accident prevention, fire prevention, environmental safety, or security program, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
