Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for an experienced RN Adult and Pediatric Emergency Room (ED) Clinical Nurse Mentor.

- Care from Northern Virginia's only Level I Trauma Center
- Rapid evaluation of every medical condition
- Radiology and lab services open 24/7, radiology and CT scans occur onsite in the emergency room
- Staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians at all times
- 72 treatment rooms, including 3 Trauma and Resuscitation Rooms.
- 8 "fast track" treatment areas for faster care of less serious injuries
- Open design to visually aid the medical team in patient care
- Emergency psychiatric assessment, treatment and healing (EmPATH) in a calming, therapeutic environment for patients 18 years of age and over.
- Adjacent to the newly renovated Inova Children's Pediatric Emergency Room

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities:
- Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
- Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
- Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
- Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
- Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.
Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
- Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
