DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position helps protect public safety by testing driver license applicants and verifying important identity documents. It also supports daily customer service needs at the Driver License Center. As a Driver License Examiner w/CDL, you will perform the following duties:
- Conduct Examinations: Administer knowledge, vision, pre trip, skills, and road tests for commercial and non commercial applicants
- Verify Documents: Review applications, identity records, and supporting paperwork to confirm authenticity and detect fraud
- Assess Vehicles: Check vehicles for proper inspection, equipment function, and readiness for testing
- Use Systems: Access databases and tools to authenticate documents and determine eligibility for licenses and identification cards
- Serve Customers: Provide information, process applications, issue products, and follow all customer service requirements
- Follow Standards: Apply agency regulations including REAL ID rules, fee waiver guidelines, safety practices, and required procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel may be required as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
