Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
This role supports a busy distribution center by safely handling, storing, and preparing products for shipment. You will load and unload trailers and trucks, perform inventory activities, and ensure orders are picked, packed, labeled, and shipped accurately and on time. The position requires consistent attention to safety, adherence to established procedures, and effective use of material handling equipment to keep warehouse operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload all inbound and outbound trailers, trucks, and vans while using all required safety devices and strictly following distribution center procedures.
- Conduct daily cycle counts and physical inventories to maintain accurate stock records and support inventory control.
- Consolidate products to optimize space utilization in the warehouse and maintain an organized storage environment.
- Maintain awareness of all products and their specific handling requirements to ensure proper storage and movement.
- Monitor warehouse inventory levels and replenish inventory into warehouse racking as needed to support order fulfillment.
- Assist the warehouse team in meeting productivity requirements by completing assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare items according to customer packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements, ensuring orders are picked and packed correctly for daily shipment.
- Operate material handling equipment such as vertical balers, pallet jacks, two-wheel carts, bar code scanners, conveyors, air machines, sealed air systems, and shipping manifest systems, with the exception of industrial lift trucks until certification is obtained.
- Follow guidelines and directions set by the Distribution Management Team and perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of warehouse and distribution experience for Level 1 roles.
- 5+ years of warehouse and distribution experience for Level 2 roles.
- At least 2 years of tenure in a previous role for Level 1 positions.
- At least 3 years of tenure in a previous role for Level 2 positions.
- Forklift certification for Level 2 roles, with the ability to provide proof of certification.
- Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Hands-on experience with shipping systems for Level 2 roles.
- Experience in material handling, warehouse operations, and general labor tasks such as loading, picking, and packaging.
- Proficiency in using pallet jacks and order picking tools.
- Attention to detail when packing, labeling, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and warehouse guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a material handler, warehouse associate, or in similar warehouse roles.
- Familiarity with vertical balers, pallet jacks, two-wheel carts, bar code scanners, air machines, and related warehouse equipment.
- Experience with stand-up forklifts is beneficial, especially for Level 2 roles.
- Comfort working with conveyor systems, sealed air systems, and shipping manifest systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a team to meet productivity and quality targets.
- Strong organizational skills to support efficient space utilization and inventory management.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean manufacturing and distribution facility that supports automated in vitro diagnostic hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis analyzers, reagents, and information systems. You will work around modern warehouse technologies, including vertical balers, pallet jacks, two-wheel carts, bar code scanners, conveyors, air machines, sealed air systems, and shipping manifest systems. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures. Work typically involves standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating material handling equipment throughout the shift. Appropriate work attire suitable for a clean manufacturing and warehouse setting is expected.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
