Job Title: Welder Foreman

Job Description

The Welder Foreman leads a team of 3–5 welders in a busy production fabrication environment, ensuring high-quality welding work, efficient workflow, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role combines hands-on welding and fabrication with day-to-day leadership, coordination, and support of the welding team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee a team of 3–5 welders in a production fabrication shop, ensuring daily work is organized and completed on schedule.
  • Perform hands-on welding and fabrication work using MIG, flux core, stick welding, and structural steel techniques as needed.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and drawings to guide the team in producing accurate and high-quality fabricated components.
  • Assign tasks, coordinate workflows, and monitor progress to maintain consistent productivity and a smooth production process.
  • Inspect welds and fabricated parts for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity, and provide guidance on corrections when required.
  • Support and mentor welders, offering direction, training, and feedback to help develop skills and maintain high performance standards.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices in the fabrication shop, ensuring all team members follow safety procedures and use equipment properly.
  • Collaborate with other shop personnel to resolve fabrication issues and maintain efficient use of materials and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors about job status, potential issues, and resource needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area that supports efficient production and safe operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication, including MIG, flux core, and stick welding.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural steel drawings.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a production or fabrication environment, overseeing other welders or shop personnel.
  • Hands-on structural steel welding and fabrication skills with attention to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and team members while maintaining production schedules.
  • Clear and confident communication skills for directing and supporting a welding team.
  • Commitment to safe work practices in a fabrication shop setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a lead person or foreman in a welding or fabrication shop.
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication projects.
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced welders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for addressing fabrication and welding challenges.
  • Organizational skills for managing workflow, materials, and equipment in a production environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
