We are seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused Paraprofessional to join our school community in St. Albans, Vermont. This position plays a vital role in supporting students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success by working closely with teachers and special education staff in a collaborative learning environment.
Summary
The Paraprofessional provides instructional and classroom support to students under the direction of licensed teachers and administrators. This role may include working one-on-one with students, assisting small groups, supporting students with special needs, and helping create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Assist teachers with classroom instruction and daily learning activities.
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support to students.
Support students with behavioral, social-emotional, and communication needs.
Reinforce instructional lessons and accommodations outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), when applicable.
Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and student supervision.
Help maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Support students during transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and other school activities as assigned.
Document student progress and communicate observations with teachers and support staff.
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with school policies and applicable laws.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds and with varying educational needs.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
Successful completion of all required background checks prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred
Previous experience working in a school, childcare, or youth-serving environment.
Experience supporting students with disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or behavioral needs.
CPR and First Aid certification
