RADIOLOGY SPECIALIST ASSISTANT
\n Interventional Radiology
\n 100 Mile Radius Rule (no candidates within 100 miles of facility will be considered)
\n Shift: 8am-4:30pm, 40 hours per week

\n The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides patient care services in accordance with approved delineation of privileges under the supervision of a physician. This role delivers age-appropriate care across the lifespan and supports the continuum of care through clinical expertise, patient assessment, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

\n Key Responsibilities
\n Provide medical services to patients within scope of practice and assigned privileges
\n Perform patient assessments using age-specific growth and development principles
\n Deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care
\n Assist supervising physician with radiologic procedures and patient management
\n Maintain patient flow and organize clinical workload effectively
\n Provide guidance and direction to clinical staff involved in patient care
\n Respond appropriately to emergency situations
\n Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
\n Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI)
\n Perform fluoroscopic procedures, including barium studies (e.g., upper GI series, small bowel follow-through, and enemas).
\n Perform joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance.
\n Conduct paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures, including patient preparation, imaging guidance, and post-procedure monitoring.
\n Place abscess drains using ultrasound or CT guidance, ensuring sterile technique and accurate positioning.
\n Perform bone marrow biopsies, including site preparation and specimen collection.
\n Perform biopsies with ultrasound and CT guidance for various tissues and organs, adhering to protocols for minimizing complications.
\n Perform ultrasound-guided and stereotactic breast biopsies as well as marker clip placement.
\n Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and technologists to prepare procedure rooms, manage equipment, and maintain inventory of supplies.
\n Document procedures accurately, including procedural notes, imaging findings, and patient outcomes.
\n Educate patients on procedures, obtain informed consent, and provide pre- and post-procedure instructions.
\n Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines.
\n Qualifications

\n Education
\n Graduate of an approved course of study acceptable to the New York State Education Department
\n Bachelor's degree required Radiologic Technology or a related field; certification as a Radiologist Assistant (RA) or Physician Assistant (PA) with radiology focus preferred.

\n Certifications:
\n Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography; additional certifications in CT, Ultrasound, or Interventional Radiology (e.g., RRA - Registered Radiologist Assistant) are highly desirable.
\n BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
