Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown) position requiring at least 2 years of experience, night shift availability, and active IA or Compact RN licensure.

Details\n

\n
• Acute care stepdown/PCU unit within a Level III Trauma hospital
\n
• 22-bed unit serving patients with heart failure, A-fib, respiratory distress, and stroke
\n
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4; nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
\n
• RNs are required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
\n
• RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
\n
• CPAP management is part of the RN scope on this unit
\n
• Charge nurse is present each shift and carries a full patient assignment
\n
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700); cyclic scheduling
\n
• Every other weekend required
\n
• One major and one minor holiday required
\n
• May float to the ICU if the RN has appropriate experience
\n
• Epic EMR used in this position
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active IA or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active, pending licenses not accepted
\n
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
\n
• Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
\n
• Stepdown or PCU experience required
\n
• Epic EMR experience preferred
\n
• Must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility — driver's license used to verify permanent address
\n
• Must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)
\n
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
\n
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
\n

• Unit-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shift in the department
\n
• A pass/fail, open-book exam covering skills learned during orientation is administered on the first Friday of orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to continue the assignment
\n
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them may result to contract termination
\n
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront — additional RTO will not be approved after the process has begun
