American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with at least 2 years of PICU experience and required PALS, ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications for a 13-week night shift assignment.

- position at an academic teaching hospital floating across PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units \n
- Patient ratio of 1:2 in critical care areas \n
- Night shift schedule (3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00) \n
- 36 or 48 hours per week with every other weekend and every other holiday required \n
- 13-week contract length \n
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed \n
- Floating required within scope of practice according to facility float policy \n
- \n
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start) \n
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS \n
- Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending) \n
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required \n
- Must be comfortable working in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED settings \n
- Previous float pool experience in PICU/NICU strongly considered in lieu of direct unit experience \n
- Teaching hospital experience required \n
- Epic EMR experience required \n
- BSN preferred \n
- Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred \n
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred \n
- \n
- Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team \n
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract; no RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment \n
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for appropriate start date planning \n
- Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval before returning \n
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached \n
- Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding \n
- First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience \n
