Hybrid 3 days onsite in Rockville, MD
Our client seeks a Senior Business Systems Analyst to analyze and enhance automated surveillance systems that detect potential regulatory rule violations across multiple asset classes and regulatory domains. You will translate regulatory requirements into technical surveillance logic, validate and iterate on prototypes, and manage production implementations. You will communicate technical concepts in clear terms for nontechnical stakeholders, investigate data discrepancies, and document business-facing knowledge and BRDs.

Responsibilities:- Analyze, validate, and enhance surveillance patterns to ensure accurate, complete, and defensible results.
- Translate regulatory requirements into technical specifications and surveillance logic.
- Prototype solutions to address complex business problems and iterate based on findings.
- Manage implementation of approved prototypes into production environments.
- Investigate data discrepancies and validate system outputs across large datasets.
- Communicate complex technical concepts in clear business terms to stakeholders.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including business-facing knowledge documents and BRDs.
- Leverage SQL, Python, and data visualization to support analysis and reporting.
- Review and interpret source code and data processing pipelines for business logic accuracy.
- Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to mine large datasets.
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or advanced degree with 2+ years of experience.
- Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
- Advanced SQL for large-scale analysis on distributed platforms.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and tool development.
- Experience applying machine learning algorithms to business problems.
- Ability to read and interpret complex data pipelines and source code.
- Advanced spreadsheet proficiency for business and operational analysis.
- Strong documentation skills for translating technical implementations into BRDs and knowledge documents.
- Experience with data visualization to present findings.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Preferred: Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.
- Preferred: Knowledge of SEC/FINRA rules and reporting or strong interest in U.S. market structure and regulations.
- Preferred: Experience with generative AI tools and validation of AI outputs.
- Preferred: Experience with distributed query engines, big data platforms, and source code management workflows.
