We currently have an opening for a per diem security guard position. Flexibility for all shifts including weekends required. 

The Security Guard will protect and maintain a secure psychiatric hospital environment by enforcing rules and regulations to provide for the safety of personnel, patients, visitors, and the facility. The Mental Health Security Officer typically works alone at a psychiatric hospital and provides safety and security to patients, personnel, and the facility by performing foot patrols and responding to codes to de-escalate crisis situations.

·         Patrols and monitors campus; reports suspicious activities to local authorities.

·         Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors visits, staff, etc.

·         Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.

·         After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.

·         Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property.

·         Reasonably detains persons suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives.

·         Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.

·         Maintains a log of shift activities and prepares incident reports.

·         Monitors weather radios during times of inclement weather to ensure the safety of personnel and patients.

·         Transport Patient meals from assigned picked location back to the facility.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.

·         Authoritative verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.

·         Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.

·         Ability to deal tactfully with coworkers, patients, and the public.

Required:

·        -  High school diploma or equivalent

·         - PA Driver’s License

·       -  CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

Preferred:

·       -  Mental Health Experience

·        - Hospital Experience

·       -  Security guard training certification
