Part Time 24 Hour per week Unit Secretary/Central Supply

Ark Healthcare and Rehabilitation at Governor’s House, one of Hartford County’s premier leaders in Skilled Nursing Care is seeking a Part-Time-Time, 24 hour per week Unit Secretary/Central Supply Clerk to join our team of healthcare professionals.

Primary responsibilities include:

Greet Patients

Respond to patient, physician, visitor, and staff requests and concerns

Communicate center policies to patients, visitors, staff (i.e.) visiting hours, smoking policy)

Prepare name bands and other identifying tags for the patient and the patient’s assigned room/equipment

Check patients’ rooms to assure readiness for a new admission

Answer call bells and assist patients with non-clinical needs,

Send and receive documents via fax machine

Answer, screen, and process unit telephone calls while protecting patient confidentiality and take messages when appropriate

Support nursing and social services in the scheduling, tracking, and maintenance of internal and external healthcare provider appointments from admission through discharge

Schedule appointments for diagnostic testing at other facilities

Schedule transportation for patients to travel outside the center for appointments; call ahead to confirm the appropriate coordination of transportation with the transportation provider

Prepare appropriate medical records for transportation with patient to external appointment

Schedule and coordinate family members and/or CNAs  to accompany patients to appointments a needed

Complete forms necessary to arrange transportation for patients

Document appointments and complete reminder cards for patient information

Ensure patient’s arrival at scheduled appointments on time

Notify and document consulting physicians of consult request

Coordination of provision of medical supplies and stocking of medical supplies
