Job Description
DIRECT CARE WORKER (p/t)
Metropolitan Family Services provides services for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Metropolitan Family Services, INC. seeks a Direct Care workers to work in all boroughs (Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Manhattan) to assist developmentally disabled individuals, one-on-one in the home, and community with their goals.
DIRECT SERVICE PROFESSIONALS (DSPs)
Metropolitan Family Services provides services for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Direct Support Professionals provide habilitative and/or vocational activities and options to individuals with intellectual, physical, and/or developmental disabilities. DSPs work one-on-one in the consumer's home and community to address a variety of life skills to include social, recreational and other activities of daily living. We're seeking DSPs in all boroughs. Please note our staff must be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus before starting employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide formal and informal training on all habilitation and vocational activities, helping individuals acquire new skills and increase independence.
- Provide supervision and support in community settings
- Complete all skill development and support and progress notes.
- Maintain a healthy and clean work area.
- Provide behavior support and crisis intervention as needed.
- Must be able to assist with lifting disabled individuals as needed
- Assist with personal hygiene as needed.
- Facilitates the growth and community interaction of an individual with neurological impairments, learning disabilities, or autism.
- Provides a variety of independent living skills necessary to enable the individual to live successfully in the community while providing relief /respite to individuals who provide primary care and support.
- Maintain and submit service notes with documentation of hours worked on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual Spanish a Plus!
