We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join our construction team in Sarasota FL. We have multiple jobs and you may travel from Manatee to Charlotte County. You will be responsible for safely operating heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders to move earth, rock, and materials. The ideal candidate ensures all equipment is maintained, follows project plans, and strictly adheres to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery (excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, etc.) according to project plans and grade specifications.
- Site Preparation: Clear land, grub stumps, excavate trenches, and level or compact earth.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Perform pre-operational inspections, routine maintenance (greasing, fueling, minor adjustments), and report mechanical issues to the supervisor.
- Site Coordination: Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and surveying markers. Communicate effectively with ground crews and other operators to ensure safety.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety guidelines to prevent accidents and property damage.
Qualifications
- Experience: [1 or more] years of proven experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or civil environment.
- Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction blueprints. Exceptional hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and able to work well independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to endure long hours and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting for extended periods in heavy machinery.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
