Job Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of a multi site industrial organization by managing the monthly close process, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial statements. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, the ability to collaborate with both plant and corporate teams, and a commitment to delivering timely, compliant financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will handle reconciliations, financial analysis, tax and audit support, and a wide range of accounting functions that contribute to operational efficiency and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly close process and maintain the general ledger
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit schedules
- Input receivables, apply cash receipts, and assign costs by job
- Post payroll entries including benefits, taxes, and deductions
- Reconcile 941 to the general ledger
- Prepare intercompany invoices and maintain intercompany reconciliations
- Review and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare expense accruals, correcting journal entries, and AP accrual lists
- Maintain inventory valuation worksheets and reconcile to perpetual inventory
- Review revenue and COGS postings; accrue WIP and expenses as needed
- Support audits, tax filings, and banking requirements
- Calculate multi state sales and use taxes and prepare remittances
- Assist with financial statement preparation, cash management, and treasury functions
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules
- Develop procedures and reports to improve accounting efficiency
- Provide financial analysis for projects, capital expenditures, and costing
- Serve as a key ERP user and support system improvements
- Investigate and correct errors in financial entries and reporting
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen accounting operations
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with sales tax and multi state tax filings
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft AX preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels
- Ability to succeed in a fast paced, multi dimensional department
- Willingness to sign a Patent & Trade Secret agreement upon hire
