Senior Portfolio Accountant

Location: Chicago, IL 60606 (The Loop)

Type: Hybrid (3 days/week in office)

Overview:

A growing real estate investment organization is in need of an experienced Accounting Professional to oversee the financial reporting, portfolio accounting, and performance analysis for diversified real estate investment portfolios. This individual will partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, support strategic initiatives, and drive process improvements.

Day-to-Day:

• Manage accounting activities related to monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles
• Analyze portfolio and property-level financial results to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
• Support investment transactions, capital activity, and cash movement processes
• Assist with audit, tax, and investor reporting requirements
• Produce financial and operational reporting for management and external stakeholders
• Monitor portfolio performance and provide meaningful financial insights
• Improve accounting workflows, controls, and reporting processes
• Participate in cross-functional projects and operational initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4+ years of Accounting experience
• • At least 2+ years within real estate, investments, or asset management
• CPA designation or progress toward certification is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
