This role focuses on structural welding for large storage tanks, spheres, and water towers ranging from 23 to 43 feet in size. You will perform flux core welding on structural frames and components, working primarily with carbon steel up to 3 inches thick in a heavy industrial shop environment where safety is a top priority.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural welding on storage tanks, spheres, and water towers ranging from 23 to 43 feet in height.
- Use flux core welding processes to weld structural frames and components for tanks.
- Weld carbon steel materials up to 3 inches thick in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Pass and maintain proficiency in 2G and 3G weld tests as required.
- Work with heavy steel structures, ensuring strong, clean, and structurally sound welds.
- Interpret and follow work instructions, drawings, or layouts related to structural welding tasks.
- Collaborate with other team members in the shop to safely move, position, and secure heavy components for welding.
- Inspect welds for quality and compliance, and make any necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment in a large shop with heavy equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored safely.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a welder.
- Ability to pass 2G and 3G weld tests.
- Proficiency in flux core welding.
- Experience working with heavy steel structures.
- Hands-on experience in structural welding and fitting-related tasks.
- Ability to weld carbon steel up to 3 inches thick.
- Strong focus on safety when working around heavy equipment in a large shop environment.
- Any fitting experience is a plus.
- Experience welding on storage tanks, spheres, or water towers is beneficial.
- Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled, heavy industrial environment.

Work Environment
You will work in a large, non-climate-controlled shop that houses significant heavy equipment, making safety a very high priority at all times. The role involves a rotating shift schedule: you will start on day shift for approximately six months, then move to night shift for 2 to 4 months, and then rotate back to days for another six months. Day shift hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed. Second shift hours are 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., Monday through Friday, and include a shift differential when working nights. You will be expected to wear appropriate protective gear suitable for welding and working around heavy industrial equipment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.50 - $27.50/hr.
