About This Role

The Center for Children and Family in Society is a premier facility for observation, research, and teaching by college students and faculty. It collaborates with local agencies and provides training through Early Childhood Professional Training Project and other community organizations. As a model of quality early childhood education, it offers hands-on professional development opportunities.


To excel in this role, the candidate must be a seasoned Early Childhood Educator, equipped to provide leadership and stability in a toddler or preschool classroom. They must be knowledgeable in Developmentally Appropriate Learning for Toddlers.



What You'll Do

Responsibilities

  • Support the Early Childhood Teacher in the day-to-day supervision and management of a toddler or preschool classroom.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, monitoring their individual and collective needs.
  • Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the guidance of the Early Childhood Teacher.
  • Adhere to a consistent schedule, incorporating choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, meals, and smooth transitions between activities.
  • Collaborate in preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and organizing materials and supplies.
  • Engage with children in group and individual activities.
  • Build strong relationships with a primary group of children and their families.
  • Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with children, parents, and staff.
  • Encourage parental involvement in the classroom.
  • Upkeep a professional attitude and loyalty to the program in line with the Center's educational philosophy.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including recordkeeping, time sheets, and incident reports.
  • Demonstrate initiative and assist with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  • Complete necessary training, including continuing education, CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Classroom Teacher and/or Director.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Meets Colorado Department of Human Services Early Childhood Assistant Teacher qualifications as outlined in the Colorado Rules Regulating Childcare Centers 7.702.54 Interpretive Memorandum.
  • Has a Professional Development Plan to achieve an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience working with toddler-age children.
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • One year of professional experience with toddler-age or preschool children.
