About This Role
The Teacher fosters a cohesive teaching team, coordinating curriculum and daily classroom activities. Ensuring a safe and stimulating environment, they understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The Teacher must effectively communicate with both children and adults, guiding teacher assistants and resolving parental concerns.
What You'll Do
- Develop classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, coordinating and implementing educational curriculum.
- Model and coach teaching team success, leading by example.
- Design and lead individual and group activities to engage children and promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain frequent parent communication through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure adherence to center policies and state regulations.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
- Develop a personal professional development plan for continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- Must have at least 2 years of professional child care experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment, requiring high energy.
- A strong understanding of child development is essential.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
- An Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or a related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE is required.
- Requirements include the ability to frequently walk, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also require kneeling, bending, squatting or crawling.
- A specific vision ability is required, including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
