Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Teacher's Assistant to provide focused 1:1 academic support to an elementary-age student throughout the school day at an accredited private school in Boston. The student is academically progressing, he can read, write, and do math, and simply needs an extra layer of support to keep pace with the classroom curriculum. The right person will be able to take what is being taught in class and help him access and absorb it through additional explanation, repetition, and individualized delivery. This is a full academic year position running August 2026 through June 2027. All standard federal and state holidays observed by the school are included as paid days off.
What You'll Do
- Provide 1:1 support across all subjects and activities throughout the full school day
- Adapt and redeliver classroom curriculum to match how the student best processes and retains information
- Support smooth transitions, sustained focus, and active classroom engagement
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to stay aligned on lessons, goals, and progress
- Communicate observations regularly with the school team and family and maintain brief daily notes
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a closely related field (required)
- Hands on teaching experience in a classroom or 1:1 instructional setting (required)
- Ability to adapt existing curriculum to meet an individual student's learning needs
- Familiarity with language processing challenges and differentiated instruction strategies
- Exceptionally strong English communication skills, verbal and written, actively assessed during screening
- Energetic and able to sustain high engagement working with a young child throughout the full school day
- Punctuality and reliability are non-negotiable and essential to this role
Highly Preferred
- Experience with ADHD, behavioral support, or ABA strategies, candidates who combine strong teaching skills with a behavioral background will stand out significantly in this search
Ideal Candidate
You are a natural teacher who knows how to meet a student where they are. You can take a lesson already being taught and find the right angle, the right pace, and the right explanation to make it click for one specific student. You show up every single day, on time, ready to engage, and take genuine pride in a student's progress. If you also bring experience supporting students with attention or behavioral challenges, you will be an exceptionally strong fit for this role.
