About This Role
The Teacher Assistant role is crucial in supporting the Teachers and Director in creating a nurturing and secure environment for children. By participating in activities, managing classroom materials, and maintaining open communication with parents, the successful candidate will contribute to the overall quality of education. This individual must be able to collaborate effectively with the team, implement developmentally appropriate activities, and observe children's interests and progress. The Teacher Assistant will also play a key role in developing positive relationships with children and their parents.
- This is a school year position (late August-Mid June).
What You'll Do
- Engage with children in activities that promote participation and learning, while ensuring a clean and organized classroom environment.
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular updates and progress reports, fostering a sense of community and cooperation.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by adhering to center policies and state regulations, and by modeling good hygiene and self-help skills.
- Support a smooth daily transition for children from home to child care center.
- Stay up-to-date with professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Participate in daily activities and implement curriculum plans under the guidance of the Teacher and Director.
Requirements
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must pass health screening.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
- Must clear full background check.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification- or willingness to obtain certification.

About Us
The Village School is a registered 501c3 nonprofit offering early preschool and preschool education for children ages 2-5 years. We are located in the town of Walpole and have been an active part of the community since our incorporation in 1974. In any given year, we serve an average of 25 students from Walpole but also from neighboring towns including Westmoreland, Alstead, and Charlestown. We work closely with the community, parents, teachers and board of directors to provide a safe, fun, and stimulating environment for children to learn and socialize, guiding them to make kind, respectful choices in their school community. Walpole Village School has been awarded a step in the Granite Steps of Quality by NH DHHS. This is a voluntary quality recognition system.
