Position Summary

As a Part-Time Assistant Teacher, you'll work alongside our Lead Teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun learning environment for children, anchored by our core values of Trust, Respect, Consistency, and Communication. You will play a vital role in fostering a dependable space where children feel secure and families feel valued. Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Passion for working with young children
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day
• Must pass all required Illinois DCFS background checks

Preferred

• Previous experience working in childcare, preschool, or early childhood education
• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborative Support: Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson preparation while maintaining clear communication regarding classroom needs.
• Safe Environment: Supervise children to ensure a safe, positive, and stable environment, utilizing consistency in daily routines to help children feel secure.
• Holistic Development: Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development by modeling respect and fostering trust in every interaction.
• Classroom Maintenance: Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom, treating the space with respect as an essential part of the learning experience.
• Routine Care: Assist with meals, snacks, nap time, and daily routines, ensuring consistency to support the children's well-being.
• Behavioral Guidance: Encourage positive behavior through patience, age-appropriate guidance, and consistent reinforcement of classroom expectations utilizing principles of Conscious Discipline.
• Relationship Building: Foster strong, professional relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members through open communication and mutual respect, earning the trust of the entire community.
• Compliance: Follow all Illinois DCFS licensing and safety requirements, ensuring consistent adherence to policies that maintain the trust and safety of our families.
