Description
Hobby Lobby is looking to identify candidates for future full-time Buyer opportunities. These candidates have the ability to identify winning products, source them at the optimal value, and maintain the right inventory levels to maximize sales and inventory productivity. Buyers work on-site in an office setting Monday through Friday with exception of travel days. Buyers collaborate with other Buyers, Compliance Teams, Design Teams, and Vendors.

Responsibilities
- Product Selection - Evaluate and choose products that align with customer preferences, market demand, and revenue opportunities.
- Merchandising Strategy - Identify emerging trends, styles, pricing opportunities, and assortments that drive customer engagement and sales.
- Commercial Performance - Balance customer demand, product costs, margins, sales performance, and profitability to maximize business results.
- Supplier & Sourcing Management - Identify and partner with suppliers that can deliver the right products while optimizing cost, quality, lead times, and purchasing terms.
- Inventory Management - Strategically manage inventory levels to support sales, improve turns, and minimize excess stock, markdowns, and holding costs.
- Demand & Purchase Planning - Forecast customer demand and translate sales expectations into effective purchasing decisions, quantities, and timing.
- Product Lifecycle Management - Oversee products throughout their lifecycle, from initial selection and supplier development through replenishment, performance management, and exit.
Job Description - Requirements
- Effectively prioritize, plan, and coordinate time and resources to meet objectives and deadlines
- Collect, evaluate, and interpret information to identify trends, assess opportunities, and make informed decisions
- Use sound judgement and logic to identify solutions and effectively address complex situations
- Build positive working relationships and effectively contribute effectively to a team objective
- Operate successfully with minimal supervision
- Communicate ideas, recommendations, and information clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats
- Anticipate potential challenges and take proactive steps to prevent, minimize and resolve issues
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods at trade shows and navigate stairs and factory environments as required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including:
- Microsoft Excel abilities matching the description found at the Excel Website
- Microsoft Word experience mirroring the description at the Word Website
- Microsoft Outlook skillset in keeping with the description at the Outlook Website
- Work experience within a buying capacity, preferably retail chain format OR
- Bachelor degree, preferably in business administration, merchandising, or marketing OR
- Combination of education and/or work experience equaling 5+ years
