Salary: Up to $130,000/year (Based on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of a Critical Access Hospital. This leadership role is responsible for managing accounting, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and regulatory compliance while partnering with hospital leadership to ensure financial stability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting operations.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and variance analyses.
- Coordinate year-end audits and collaborate with external auditors.
- Assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Oversee Medicare Cost Reports, Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) audits, and IRS Form 990 filings.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and healthcare reimbursement requirements.
- Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Partner with department leaders to monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in hospital financial management is required.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Experience coordinating with external auditors and regulatory reporting.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Critical Access Hospital experience is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
