Job Title: Facility Technician
Job Description
The Facility Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and improvement of multiple buildings and rental properties, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all facility systems. This role combines hands-on technical work with coordination of projects and vendors, contributing directly to a clean, well-maintained, and compliant environment.
Responsibilities
- Support all facility maintenance activities, repairs, and improvement projects across company buildings and rental properties.
- Assist in defining project goals, specifications, and timelines for facility maintenance and improvement projects.
- Coordinate internal resources and external subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
- Obtain, review, and compare subcontractor quotes to support vendor selection and project planning.
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with project expectations, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems, including pumps, tanks, air systems, water systems, piping, and exhaust systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues as they arise.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend the life of facility equipment and systems.
- Perform general building maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, drywall repair, lighting maintenance, and installation work as needed.
- Provide day-to-day facility support to building occupants and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
- Respond to emergency repair situations in a timely manner to restore safe and reliable operations.
- Maintain and support recycling and waste management programs for the facility and laboratories.
- Support safety programs by participating in inspections, addressing findings, and assisting with compliance initiatives.
- Ensure overall facility quality standards are maintained or improved through consistent upkeep and attention to detail.
- Use hand tools and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively while following established procedures.
- Document work performed and communicate status updates to internal teams and stakeholders as required.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of related maintenance or facilities experience.
- Knowledge of or certification in two or more maintenance trades such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing.
- Hands-on experience with facilities maintenance, including building maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools and common maintenance equipment.
- Proficiency with computers and software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and project management tools.
- Strong project planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in a maintenance environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and vendors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks or projects.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Commitment to supporting safety programs, inspections, and compliance initiatives.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Experience with carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and general building trades.
- Experience with lighting maintenance, including installation and repair.
- Skilled in facilities operations within multi-building or rental property environments.
- Experience supporting recycling and waste management programs.
- Familiarity with maintaining pumps, tanks, air systems, water systems, piping, and exhaust systems.
- Comfort working in a structured, project-driven environment with internal and external stakeholders.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
