Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician assembles and builds water treatment systems housed in storage containers, working as a versatile, hands-on contributor across multiple disciplines. This role involves electrical wiring, plumbing, fabrication, and final assembly, while closely following engineering drawings and production documentation. The technician ensures high-quality workmanship, supports continuous improvement, and maintains a safe, organized manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble complete water treatment systems in storage containers by following engineering drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Perform electrical wiring tasks, including routing, connecting, and securing electrical components according to specifications.
- Carry out metal and PVC plumbing work, including cutting, fitting, and installing piping and related components.
- Execute fabrication and subassembly tasks, such as measuring, cutting, and assembling mechanical parts and structures.
- Complete final assembly and perform troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues.
- Interpret production documentation, identify discrepancies or errors, and communicate issues to appropriate team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, consistently following safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Report safety hazards, quality concerns, material shortages, and production issues promptly to support smooth operations.
- Communicate parts and material requirements to ensure adequate inventory and prevent production delays.
- Support inventory tracking by accurately documenting material usage and maintaining records in company systems.
- Use company systems and software to track work orders, record production data, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Adhere to established quality, efficiency, and workmanship standards while meeting production timelines and output goals.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, offering feedback and suggestions to enhance processes and workflows.
- Contribute to safety and workflow enhancements by following best practices and supporting implementation of new procedures.
- Assist with packaging and freight preparation, including labeling, securing, and preparing finished systems for shipment.
- Provide inventory support and assist with general production tasks as needed to help the team meet overall objectives.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical or manufacturing experience in a production or assembly environment.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools used for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical assembly work.
- Strong work ethic and consistently positive, professional attitude.
- Ability to meet production quality standards and timeline expectations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility with scheduling to meet production and project needs.
- Basic Microsoft Office and general computer skills for documentation and system use.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality in all tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as required by production tasks.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during manufacturing shifts.
- Capability to use tools and operate equipment safely following training and procedures.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces when required by assembly tasks.
- Comfort performing repetitive manufacturing tasks while maintaining accuracy and focus.
- Ability to work in environments where chemicals and cleaning agents are present, following proper safety protocols.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience working with PVC or metal plumbing systems, including installation and repair.
- in fabrication and mechanical assembly, including cutting, fitting, and assembling components.
- Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing software for tracking production and inventory.
- Forklift certification or practical forklift operating experience.
- Experience in water treatment or industrial manufacturing environments.

This is a Contract position based out of San Luis Obispo, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
