Established (50+ Years) Premier Firm Seeking Associate Attorney for Civil Rights Defense in Chicago, IL
An established firm based in Chicago, IL with an additional office in Northern Indiana, in practice for over 50 years, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-4+ years of experience to join their Civil Rights Defense team. This attorney will focus on representing municipalities, police departments, and public entities in Section 1983 litigation and related civil rights matters, working onsite for the first six months before transitioning to a hybrid schedule.

Salary range: $100,000-$130,000+, contingent on experience

Qualifications:
Holds a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Admitted to the Illinois or Indiana Bar, or a state with reciprocal admission
Brings 1-4+ years of experience in civil litigation or trial practice
Demonstrates strong legal research and analytical skills
Communicates clearly in written and verbal formats
Works independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
Maintains a thorough understanding of and commitment to ethical practice
Deposition experience is a plus
Experience with civil rights, municipal, or governmental defense is preferred
Responsibilities:
Provides legal representation and counsel in civil rights defense matters involving municipalities, police departments, and public entities
Handles Section 1983 litigation and related civil rights claims
Conducts legal research and drafts motions, briefs, and other legal documents
Attends hearings and conducts depositions
Represents clients in court proceedings
Participates in client meetings and collaborates with other legal professionals
Travels regionally as needed for trials and client matters
