This position involves setting up and operating manual and CNC milling machines to produce precision components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will interpret blueprints, maintain tight tolerances, and ensure all machined parts meet internal and customer quality standards while collaborating closely with engineering, quality, and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines, including vertical mills, to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job to ensure optimal machining performance.
- Perform machine set-ups, changeovers, and adjustments to support efficient production.
- Perform tool offsets, adjustments, and minor CNC program edits as needed to maintain part quality.
- Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and bore gauges.
- Maintain tight tolerances and verify that all parts meet specified quality and dimensional requirements.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Operate related equipment such as lathes and other machine tools as needed.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while working on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- At least 3 years of experience working as a mill machinist.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating manual and CNC milling machines, including vertical mills.
- Hands-on experience with machine operation, set-ups, and changeovers.
- Ability to perform minor CNC programming and program edits at the machine control.
- Strong blueprint and drawing reading skills, including understanding of tight tolerances.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and bore gauges.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain tight tolerances and produce high-quality machined parts.
- Experience troubleshooting machining issues and making process adjustments.
- Solid understanding of basic machine maintenance and safe machine operation practices.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
- Familiarity with working closely alongside engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Comfort operating additional machine tools such as lathes when needed.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and shop procedures consistently.

Work Environment
This role is based in a machine shop setting in Brighton, MI, working on manual and CNC milling machines and related equipment such as lathes. Shifts are available on first (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), second (3:15 p.m.–11:45 p.m.), and third (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.) shifts, with overtime scheduled every other Saturday. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and cleanliness. You will regularly use precision measuring tools and follow established safety and operational procedures throughout your shift.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $34.00/hr.
