Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician operates and maintains production equipment, ensures consistent product quality, and supports continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on machine operation with troubleshooting, basic maintenance, and quality control, while working closely with team members to meet production targets and uphold safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and optimal performance throughout each shift.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machinery to minimize downtime and maintain reliability.
  • Follow established production schedules, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to meet output and quality targets.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve production processes and identify opportunities for efficiency and quality enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of production data, equipment maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, use required protective equipment, and actively promote a safe working environment.
  • Assist in training new employees on manufacturing procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Maintain an understanding of different types of raw materials and ensure they are used at the appropriate manufacturing locations.
  • Check the quality of products during and after production, ensuring they meet defined specifications and standards.
  • Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products using appropriate tools and equipment to verify compliance with quality requirements.
  • Inform the shift supervisor promptly about product quality concerns, equipment problems, and safety issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping and 5S principles where applicable.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the company as operational needs arise.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machines and production systems operate.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues quickly and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate production and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication in English.
  • Effective teamwork abilities, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime when required to meet production demands.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and multitask in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mathematics skills for measurements, calculations, and production data recording.
  • Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness as a committed team player.
  • Consistent practice of maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment of at least 1 year.
  • Forklift experience and ability to safely operate a forklift as part of material handling duties.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing, and grasping for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a non-controlled environment with varying temperatures and conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical degree or certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience with 5S or similar workplace organization and efficiency methodologies is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a machine mechanic is preferred.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or experience is preferred.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes is preferred.
  • Quality control experience, including inspection, measurement, and documentation, is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints is preferred.
  • Experience in production, assembly, and machine operation.
  • Background in troubleshooting and machine maintenance.
  • Familiarity with electrical concepts and equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with quality control practices and tools.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts in a plant environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production plant environment with dedicated areas for manufacturing, grinding, shipping and receiving, and maintenance. Work is performed around industrial machinery and equipment, including manufacturing lines, grinders, forklifts, and overhead cranes. The position involves standing and walking for most of the shift, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, and regular use of stairs or ladders, as well as climbing, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing, and grasping. The environment is non-controlled, meaning temperature and conditions may vary across the facility. Shifts may include day and night options, with some areas operating on 12-hour schedules and no weekend work, depending on assignment. Employees follow established safety protocols and use appropriate protective equipment, maintaining clean and organized workstations in line with 5S and housekeeping standards. Dress typically consists of practical work attire suitable for a manufacturing plant, along with any required safety gear.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.37/hr.
