Job Description
Senior Mechanical Project Manager
We are a privately held mechanical construction firm specializing in design-build HVAC and plumbing solutions for complex commercial projects across Southern California. Founded in 2015, we combine a highly experienced engineering team with full-lifecycle capabilities-including preconstruction, design, procurement, and field execution-to deliver efficient, high-quality building systems. Backed by rapid growth and a collaborative, detail-oriented team, we offer employees the opportunity to build impactful projects and advance their careers in a high-demand industry!

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical engineering projects from concept through commissioning. The role combines technical mechanical engineering expertise with project leadership: planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction oversight and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget and to required quality standards while coordinating cross-disciplinary teams and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical project delivery including planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning for large-scale industrial, commercial or infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and resource plans; monitor progress and implement corrective actions to meet milestones and financial targets.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, electrical, controls) and manage external contractors, vendors and consultants to ensure scope alignment and quality execution.
  • Review and approve mechanical design drawings, specifications, calculations and equipment selections; ensure compliance with codes, standards and client requirements.
  • Manage procurement and subcontracting activities including tendering, vendor evaluation, contracts, change orders and claims mitigation.
  • Perform site supervision and construction management activities, including inspections, quality control, and resolving technical and logistical issues.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, progress updates and risk registers to senior management and clients; escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure HSE (health, safety and environment) requirements are integrated into project plans and that teams follow safety procedures and permit systems.
  • Lead commissioning, start-up and handover activities, ensuring systems are tested, documented and meet performance criteria.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project staff, promoting best practices in project delivery and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering and project management
  • Proven experience managing construction or industrial projects (more than $5 million in scale) involving HVAC, piping, rotating equipment, pressure systems or process utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO, local building codes) and experience with design review and approval processes.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera or similar), engineering software and document control systems.
  • Experience with procurement, contracts, change management and cost control; PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of driving multidisciplinary teams to successful delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HSE practices and experience implementing safety plans on construction sites.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required and to work in field conditions when necessary.

Benefits

  • Competitive Base Salary: $160,000 - $190,000 (depending on experience)
  • Health, Medical, Dental Package
