We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Site Lead to oversee the deployment of large-scale inspection systems in Calexico, CA. The Site Lead will be responsible for end-to-end site execution, from construction kickoff through Government acceptance testing (CBP). This individual will serve as the primary on-site point of contact, coordinating across internal teams, subcontractors, government stakeholders, and construction partners to ensure successful project delivery. This is a hands-on, field-based leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, logistical coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple active sites simultaneously in collaboration with other Site Leads. Extensive travel is required, with most time spent on-site.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate installation and commissioning of: Vehicle, cargo, and rail inspection systems and Radiation detection systems
  • Act as the primary on-site liaison between all stakeholders, including CBP, contractors, and internal teams
  • Coordinate equipment delivery schedules, site access, work areas, and resource allocation
  • Track shipments and oversee equipment offloading and laydown logistics
  • Monitor construction and installation progress against project schedules and milestones
  • Proactively identify risks, delays, and conflicts, and drive resolution
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, including long-lead item forecasting and forward planning
  • Provide daily and weekly status updates to stakeholders
  • Support site-related requests, issue resolution, and subcontractor coordination
  • Collaborate with other Site Leads to ensure adequate site coverage and continuity
  • Review technical documentation, drawings, and test plans to ensure proper execution
  • Lead and verify system testing activities and ensure readiness for acceptance

 

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience managing technical teams in: Construction, Field service or Installation environments
  • Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles and coordination across disciplines
  • Ability to read and interpret: Technical drawings, Specifications, Test plans, or Engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with construction and technical terminology (civil, MEP, rail systems)
  • Experience working with project schedules, including: Gantt charts, MS Project or similar tools
  • Ability to manage logistics such as delivery tracking, scheduling, and coordination across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to act as the central coordination point on-site
  • Ability to pass CBP Public Trust Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 100%) and work on-site most of the week
    • Travel typically occurs late in the week (e.g., Fridays)
    • Flexibility to return home weekends or every other weekend depending on schedule
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-manage schedules and site priorities

 

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Engineering, Construction Management, or Related technical field
  • Experience supporting remote or distributed construction or installation projects
  • Knowledge of: Electrical systems or Data infrastructure and fiber optics
  • Civil construction experience, including: Concrete and structural reinforcement or Grading, drainage, and site preparation or Conduit installation and utility runs
  • Familiarity with: Submittals, RFIs, and change orders or Construction documentation tracking
  • Experience overseeing or validating system testing and commissioning processes
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD drawings
  • PMP certification (preferred but not required)
