PeopleReady Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced Industrial Repair Estimator for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a well-established industrial repair and machining company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial equipment repair and the ability to accurately assess damaged equipment, develop repair scopes, and prepare detailed cost estimates. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on knowledge of industrial machinery, strong analytical skills, and the ability to produce accurate, competitive estimates that support project success and customer satisfaction.
- Inspect and evaluate damaged or worn industrial equipment to determine repair requirements and identify the most cost-effective solution
- Assess equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, and other industrial machinery
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, machining, materials, replacement parts, subcontractor services, and project timelines
- Source materials and obtain pricing from vendors and OEMs while verifying availability and lead times
- Analyze project risks, including potential delays, unforeseen repairs, overtime requirements, and material availability
- Develop professional proposals, estimates, and scopes of work for customers and internal teams
- Collaborate with project managers, machinists, production personnel, and sales teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to production
- Track estimated versus actual project costs to improve future estimating accuracy
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and project records
- 3+ years of estimating experience in an industrial repair, machine shop, heavy equipment repair, or industrial maintenance environment is required
- Strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, welding, fabrication, and machining processes
- Experience estimating repairs for industrial equipment rather than new construction or manufacturing projects
- Ability to accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams
