Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems in a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently while complying with food safety, quality, and OSHA regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and minimize downtime.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
  • Install, test, and commission new machinery and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on conveyors, packaging machines, mixers, pumps, motors, and compressors.
  • Maintain facility systems, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and compressed air systems.
  • Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and repair documentation accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, food safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to maximize equipment efficiency.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment reliability and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial production equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, or other food safety standards.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, climb, kneel, and work in varying temperatures for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed
