The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems in a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently while complying with food safety, quality, and OSHA regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
- Install, test, and commission new machinery and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on conveyors, packaging machines, mixers, pumps, motors, and compressors.
- Maintain facility systems, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and compressed air systems.
- Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and repair documentation accurately.
- Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, food safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to maximize equipment efficiency.
- Recommend improvements to equipment reliability and preventive maintenance programs.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial production equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is a plus.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, or other food safety standards.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills are preferred.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, climb, kneel, and work in varying temperatures for extended periods.
- Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed
