Position Summary

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, psychotherapy, and ongoing treatment planning for children, adolescents, and adults. The PMHNP collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered behavioral health services while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
  • Diagnose psychiatric disorders using DSM-5-TR criteria.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as clinically indicated.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient adherence.
  • Conduct medication management follow-up appointments.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention when appropriate.
  • Evaluate suicide and violence risk and develop safety plans.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers and specialists.

DJS Psychiatry & Services LLC is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and patient-centered Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our expanding outpatient psychiatric practice. We provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults in a collaborative, evidence-based environment.
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule requiring a minimum commitment of 20 patient visits per week, with opportunities to expand your caseload as desired.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices.
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
Provide medication management follow-up appointments.
Deliver brief psychotherapy, including supportive therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Order and interpret laboratory studies when clinically indicated.
Complete accurate and timely documentation within 24 hours of each patient encounter.
Collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, hospitals, schools, and community agencies.
Complete medication refills, prior authorizations, and other clinical documentation as needed.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
Qualifications
Required
Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) certification.
Active Massachusetts APRN license in good standing.
Active DEA registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR).
Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing as a PMHNP.
Minimum of 10 years of psychiatric nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
Previous hospital-based psychiatric nursing experience is required.
Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacology skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
Experience using electronic medical records (Tebra experience is a plus).
Preferred
Experience treating children, adolescents, and adults.
Experience managing ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.
Experience providing both in-person and telepsychiatry services.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Productivity Expectations
Maintain a minimum of 20 completed patient visits per week.
Complete clinical documentation within 24 hours.
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, DEA, CMS, and practice policies.
