Position Summary
The Dispensary Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance, compliance, and operational execution of the dispensary. This role focuses on managing store leadership, improving operational efficiency, maintaining compliance standards, and driving financial performance across the organization.
This position is intended to operate the store day-to-day. The Store Manager should focus on accountability, scalability, and ensuring consistent standards for the retail location.
Key Responsibilities
Store Manager - Operational Oversight
- Manage store operations and support staff
- Ensure operational standards are consistently maintained, including:
o Customer experience
o Store cleanliness
o Transaction speed and efficiency
o Product merchandising and presentation
- Hold store staff accountable to operational KPIs
- Review staffing levels and scheduling to ensure labor efficiency
- Assist with escalated customer service or employee issues
- Monitor store performance trends and implement operational improvements
Team Leadership & Accountability
- Hire, train, coach, and develop store employees and key leadership staff
- Establish clear expectations, goals, and performance metrics
- Conduct regular leadership meetings
- Perform employee performance evaluations
- Build accountability systems including:
o Weekly KPI reviews
o Performance tracking
o Action plans for underperforming locations or employees
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement
Financial & Business Performance
- Monitor revenue, margins, labor costs, and operational efficiency
- Work with leadership to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost control
- Analyze sales trends and customer purchasing behavior
- Ensure store is operating within labor and operational budgets
- Drive initiatives to improve:
o Average order value
o Sales per budtender
o Gross margin
o Inventory efficiency
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all state and local cannabis regulations
- Oversee operational compliance related to:
o Inventory tracking
o Cash handling
o Store procedures
- Coordinate and review inventory audits
- Prepare store for inspections and regulatory reviews
- Ensure proper documentation and SOP adherence across retail operations
- Quickly address and resolve compliance concerns or discrepancies
Store Inventory Oversight
- Oversee inventory managers and inventory staff
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation within METRC and Flow hub
- Monitor inventory movement, transfers, receiving, and product adjustments
- Enforce inventory control procedures and SOPs
- Review inventory audit results and investigate discrepancies promptly
- Work closely with staff to maintain proper stock levels
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of:
o Cycle counts
o Full inventory audits
o Product receiving
o Transfer documentation
- Identify operational inefficiencies within inventory workflows and implement process improvements
- Hold inventory personnel accountable for accuracy, organization, and compliance standards
Process Building & Scaling
- Develop and improve repeatable operational systems
- Standardize workflows across all locations
- Maintain SOPs for:
o Inventory management
o Store operations
o Compliance procedures
o Employee accountability
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions
- Support expansion and long-term operational growth initiatives
Ideal Qualifications
- Multi-unit retail management experience preferred
- Two years Cannabis industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Experience with METRC, Flow hub, or similar cannabis POS/inventory systems
- Strong analytical and operational problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication and accountability management skills
