Job Title: Cell Assembly Operator II

Department: Cell Assembly

Reports To: Power Products Production Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

DUTIES:
  • Perform various operations necessary in the fabrication of cell components, sub-assemblies, or cells, rotating positions as directed. This task is usually a manual feeding of a piece of equipment; mechanical inspection of plaques, cell cores, or cell assemblies.
  • The operations include, but are not limited to:
    • Operate power shearer, blanker, or progressive die for cutting and trimming cell plates.
    • Operate tab welder to weld contact tabs to plates.
    • Inspect plates, sort and make any necessary repairs, and perform taping procedure of plates.
    • Operate comber and terminal welder to weld tabs of cell core. Per schedule, perform tab weld test by cutting open selected terminals to identify acceptable welds.
    • Complete cell case, core, cap, and cover assemblies.
  • Inspect cell assembly for completeness and correct dimensions by using fixture, test for continuity, and mark identifications(s).
  • Operate heat sealer or other equipment to seal cell cover and case, and perform leak-test procedures.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties related to, but not limited to, the above job duties, such as cell stacking, as requested by supervision, i.e., moving materials to and from work area, recording quantity or quality reports and any other information as required.
  • Keep facilities, materials, and work area clean and orderly, exercising care in their maintenance as required.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and production standards.

EQUIPMENT:
  • Shearers, presses, tab welders, jigs, fixtures, heat sealers, small hand tools, sander, mill, scissors, heat seal irons, tote boxes and other handling devices. Safety equipment as designated by supervision. Also requires the ability to wear a respirator, which includes passing the Respirator Fit Test and adhering to the facility's Facial Hair Policy while wearing a respirator.

EXPERIENCE & ABILITY:
  • Previous applied experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, along with a minimum of three (3) months' assembly experience in the Power Product Line Vented Cell Assembly Department.
  • Demonstrated skill-set proficiency on all equipment and assembly process operations associated with assignments.
  • Able to perform in-process inspection procedures of own work and/or work of other assemblers associated with assignments.
  • This position must meet "US Person" Export Control Requirements as defined by 22 CFR 120.62 - "US Person means a person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)." Or a successful foreign person candidate must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations."
