Location: Hybrid in Bridgewater, NJ, with two remote days per week after onboarding. Candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance (approximately 50 minutes).

Note: Applicants must have an active New Jersey Bar license and at least 2 years of consumer bankruptcy law experience. This position is not open to relocation candidates.

Job Description

  • Manage consumer Chapter 7 bankruptcy matters from intake through discharge.
  • Counsel clients throughout the bankruptcy and debt resolution process.
  • Represent clients at 341 meetings and related proceedings.
  • Prepare and respond to Rule 2004 subpoenas and related filings.
  • Negotiate out-of-court debt settlements with creditors.
  • Handle litigation matters related to bankruptcy and debt resolution as assigned.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and legal documents.
  • Maintain organized case files while managing deadlines independently.
  • Deliver practical legal guidance in a clear, client-friendly manner.

Qualifications

  • Active New Jersey Bar license in good standing.
  • 2+ years of consumer bankruptcy law experience.
  • Experience handling Chapter 7 bankruptcy matters.
  • Strong client communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple matters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with debt workouts or creditor negotiations is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Clio Manage or NextChapter is a plus.
  • Tax negotiation or Consumer Fraud Act experience is a plus.
